Sri Lanka, Oct. 13 -- Acting on a tip-off received by Thanamalwila Headquarters Police Inspector D.M.P. Bandara, officers discovered a stock of explosives hidden in a house around 12:30 a.m. yesterday (12).

The raid led to the recovery of 3 kg of explosives suspected to be ammonium nitrate and 75 electric detonators from a residence at 85/03 Wijepura, Thanamalwila.

A 51-year-old suspect, identified as a resident of 333 Koralaima, Gonapola, was taken into custody in connection with the discovery. The seized items and the suspect are scheduled to be produced before the Wellawaya Magistrate's Court.

Meanwhile, Thanamalwila Police have launched further investigations to determine the purpose of storing these explosives.
