Srilanka, Oct. 11 -- Prime Minister and Education Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said in Parliament yesterday that steps have been taken to integrate a part of legal education including lessons on the basic law of the country to the Citizen Education subject of schoolchildren from grade 06 to 08.

This will be included as a selection subject for the G. C. E ordinary level exam during the upcoming education reforms.

The Prime Minister made this statement in response to a Private Member's Motion brought in Parliament yesterday by MP Ruwan Mapalagama, who urged the government to include legal education in the education curriculum in schools from grade 06 onwards.
