Sri Lanka, Aug. 21 -- Sri Lanka celebrated a stellar performance at the Asian Throwing Championships in South Korea today (22), with Rumesh Tharanga claiming the gold medal in the men's javelin throw with a remarkable distance of 82.05 meters.

The silver medal in the men's event went to a Japanese athlete (78.60 meters), while a Pakistani athlete took bronze (77.43 meters).

In the women's javelin throw, Nadeesha Lekamge showcased her skill by winning the silver medal with a throw of 57.53 meters, adding to Sri Lanka's medal tally and marking another proud moment for the nation.
