Sri Lanka, July 15 -- Sri Lanka is planning to introduce a passenger transport service using drones, marking a new development in the country's transport sector, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka.

Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority Captain Tharinda Rambukwella said preliminary discussions have been successfully completed to introduce drones capable of carrying up to six passengers at a time.

The project is expected to be implemented with relevant state institutions, including the Ministry of Transport, in line with guidelines issued by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
