Sri Lanka, Sept. 25 -- Sri Lanka successfully defended the Zia Ul Haq Trophy on Day 2 of the 134th Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship, organised by Sri Lanka Golf and sponsored by CEAT Europe Range, at the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC) yesterday.
The home team, represented by Chanaka Perera and Sachin de Silva, produced a solid performance to defeat Pakistan in the annual encounter, which has long been a symbol of friendship and rivalry between the two nations.
A total of 32 gentlemen golfers qualified for the Match Play stage, while eight ladies advanced to the Sri Lanka Ladies' Open Amateur Championship. The knockout stage begins today and will run until September 28.
