Sri Lanka, Aug. 14 -- Sri Lanka and Oman have stepped up discussions to expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation, with Oman expressing interest in investing in Sri Lanka's agriculture and energy sectors while also proposing the possibility of a bilateral free trade agreement.

The matters were discussed when Pankaj Khimji, Foreign Trade and International Cooperation Adviser at Oman's Ministry of Commerce, accompanied by Omani Ambassador Ahmed bin Ali bin Saeid Alrashidi, met Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Co-operative Development Wasantha Samarasinghe on August 12.
