Sri Lanka, Oct. 21 -- A new and convenient method to pay spot fines charged by the Traffic Police on errant motorists was launched in the Southern Province yesterday (20) where motorists can now pay spot fines through the Government's GovPay digital payment platform.

According to the Police, this new initiative has been launched as a follow-up of the successful implementation of the pilot project of online payment system of spot fines through the GovPay digital payment system connecting 14 Police stations from Kurunegala to Anuradhapura in April 2025, and the second phase launched in July 2025 in the Western Province.
