Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya participated in the annual festival of the historic National Shrine of Our Lady of Matara on Saturday (13).

This year marks the 118th annual anniversary of the shrine. On this occasion, a special blessing ceremony was conducted by Badulla Bishop Rev. Dr. Jude Nishantha Silva and Galle Bishop Rev. Dr. Raymond Wickramasinghe on behalf of the Prime Minister. A meeting was also held between the Prime Minister and interfaith leaders of the Matara region in the main hall of the shrine.
