Sri Lanka, Sept. 1 -- Sri Lanka coming under the South Asia region is predicted to be wetter than average due to a strengthening impact of El Nino conditions as of August 28, 2026, categorised as a convergence of emerging elevated concern of climate risk.

The convergence of emerging climate risks along with fuel, fertiliser and food system pressure (3Fs) could reportedly impact the country by fuel price increase, food price increase, dependence on imported fertilisers and change in real GDP growth since the commencement of the Middle East crisis.
