Sri Lanka, Oct. 9 -- Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath met China's Ambassador to Sri Lanka Wei Huaxiang to discuss bilateral co-operation and preparations to mark two significant milestones in Sri Lanka - China relations in 2027.

The discussions focused on the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and China and the 75th anniversary of the Rubber-Rice Pact, which laid an important foundation for economic co-operation between the two countries. The meeting highlighted the significance of these anniversaries as an opportunity to recognise the long-standing friendship between Sri Lanka and China and further strengthen bilateral relations.
