Sri Lanka, May 4 -- The Department of Meteorology says showers or thundershowers are expected at several places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western and Eastern provinces after 2.00 pm today (04).

Rain is also forecast for Polonnaruwa, Galle and Matara districts during the afternoon, with fairly heavy falls exceeding 50 mm likely at some locations in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in Galle and Matara.

Morning showers are expected in coastal areas of the Western province and in the Galle and Matara districts.

Meanwhile, fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph can be expected at times over the Northern and North-central provinces and in the Hambantota district.
