Sri Lanka, Aug. 17 -- After a seven-year hiatus, the "Shilpa Abhimani - 2025/2026" National Handicrafts Presidential Awards Ceremony, aimed at taking the pride and craftsmanship of Sri Lankan artisans to the international arena, was held in grand style on Friday (14) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.

Sri Lanka's traditional crafts and creative industries represent a sector of significant value in the global economy. The Government aims to build a USD 1 billion economy through this sector. To achieve this, the government is strengthening institutions such as the National Crafts Council, the National Design Centre and Laksala.
