Srilanka, March 17 -- The Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education has issued a circular introducing a four-day school week as part of measures to manage energy consumption amid the ongoing global fuel crisis.
According to the circular sent to provincial and zonal education authorities, all schools will function only four days a week, with Wednesdays declared a school holiday until further notice.The directive has been issued to Provincial Chief Secretaries, Provincial Education Secretaries, Provincial Directors of Education, Zonal Directors of Education, Deputy and Assistant Directors in charge of divisions, heads of Pirivenas, and principals of government and government-approved private schools.
