Sri Lanka, Jan. 4 -- All schools are set to commence the first phase of the first term of the 2026 academic year from tomorrow (05).

Accordingly, government and government-approved private schools, as well as Pirivenas, will resume academic activities islandwide.

The Ministry of Education stated that the first term of the 2026 academic year will be conducted in accordance with the circular issued on December 9.

The 2025 academic year was officially concluded on December 22 for Sinhala and Tamil schools, while Muslim schools the year on December 26.
