Sri Lanka, June 24 -- The family of the former State Intelligence Service (SIS) Director Suresh Sallay, has submitted a letter to Pope Leo XIV, seeking his intervention regarding the issues surrounding his detention.

The relatives delivered the letter to the Apostolic Nuncio to Sri Lanka, the official representative of the Pope, yesterday morning. The former SIS Director was admitted to hospital after commencing a hunger strike while in the custody of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), where he is being held in connection with ongoing investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.
