Rupee appreciates to Rs.330 per US Dollar
India, May 23 -- Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr.Anil Jayantha Fernando yesterday said that the depreciation of the Sri Lankan rupee was neither caused by government policy nor the result of any incorrect decision taken by the government.
He said that the rupee had appreciated to around Rs.330 per US dollar in the inter bank call money market and this development would be welcomed by those who genuinely care about the country and its economic progress.
"The rupee has appreciated to a middle value of around Rs.330 per US dollar in the interbank call money market. Bidding rate in the inter bank call money market has dropped to Rs.327 while selling rate is Rs 332. The middle value is Rs.330," he said.
