Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U.Wootler said the government has taken action to seize and acquire property worth Rs.3,878 million that individuals have illegally acquired over the past three years.

Speaking during a special Police Press conference held yesterday (25), he said that accordingly, in 2024, properties worth Rs.1,549 million were acquired by the government, and preliminary steps have been taken to acquire another Rs. 1,549 million in 2025 and Rs. 839 million in the past few months of 2026.

These illegal assets seized and acquired by the government from the suspects include gold and jewellery, money, vehicles, houses and land, Wootler said.
