Sri Lanka, Oct. 22 -- A total amount of Rs.183.8 billion has been allocated by the Treasury to be spent on medicines and medical devices by the Health Ministry in 2025 and Rs.200 million in total by local medical divisions for provincial hospitals, Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa informed Parliament yesterday.
The Minister emphasised that this amount has been allocated not because of any shortage in medicines in the country.
Minister Jayatissa said that the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) has been already given Rs. 60 billion for the purchase of medicines and based on the need to purchase more medicines to meet the needs in the country the initial funds provided will be increased from Rs. 80 billion to Rs. 90 billion up to ...
