Sri Lanka, Aug. 25 -- A Rs. 104.9 billion project to develop access roads connecting Sections I, III and IV of the Central Expressway has received Cabinet approval.

The project will be implemented during the 2026-2030 period to improve connectivity between the expressway and the existing road network in the Western, Central and North Western provinces.

Under Section I, 12 access roads covering a total distance of 117.68 kilometres will be developed.

Another 14 access roads spanning 83.98 kilometres will be developed under Section III, while nine access roads covering 81.36 kilometres will be developed under Section IV.

The project will cover a total of 35 access roads spanning approximately 283 kilometres.
