Sri Lanka, Sept. 23 -- Royal College Colombo produced a spirited display to defeat arch-rivals S. Thomas' College Mount Lavinia by 62-57 and regain the D. S.. Senanayake Challenge Cup in their 20th annual Royal-Thomian Basketball Encounter, played at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.
The victory ended a three-year wait for the Reid Avenue school to once again lift the prestigious trophy.
Led by captain Tharuka Jayasundara and vice-captain Minutha Delungahawatta, the Royalists played with discipline and composure in a high-intensity match that kept the large crowd on edge until the final whistle. Their aggressive rebounding and fast breaks proved decisive against a determined Thomian side.
