Sri Lanka, Oct. 23 -- Sri Lanka's number-one women's shuttler, Ranithma Liyanage, concluded her campaign at the BWF World Junior Badminton Championships in Guwahati, India, last week after reaching the quarterfinals - the highest achievement by a Sri Lankan junior player in this tournament.
In the quarterfinal, Ranithma lost to Chinese shuttler Liu Si Ya, ranked 118th in the world. The 18-year-old from Christ Church College, Baddegama, played a two-set match lasting 24 minutes but eventually fell 9-15, 6-15. Despite the loss, her run to the quarterfinals showcased her potential and provided her with valuable confidence for the future.
