Sri Lanka, Aug. 26 -- The Colombo Magistrate's Court was informed today (26) that former President Ranil Wickremesinghe will not be produced before court due to his health condition.

Court officials said steps have been taken to connect Wickremesinghe to the proceedings via Zoom.

The hearing in the case against Wickremesinghe, who is in remand custody over allegations of misappropriating Rs. 16.6 million in public funds, resumed before Colombo Chief Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura.

Hundreds of lawyers were present at the Fort Magistrate's Court for the hearing, while police prevented a group of politicians and protesters from entering the court premises.
