Sri Lanka, June 1 -- The Department of Meteorology says showers will occur at times today (01) in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts.

Meanwhile, showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva Province and the Ampara and Batticaloa districts after 1.00 p.m.

Fairly strong winds of 30-40 kmph are expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, and in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western and Southern provinces, as well as Trincomalee District. The public has been advised to take precautions against temporary strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
