Sri Lanka, Aug. 20 -- A new initiative has been launched to address the long-standing human-elephant conflict by tracking the movement patterns of wild elephants using radio collars powered by the 'Misa' software.

The project was initiated under Phase II of the Mahaweli Water Security Investment Programme to mark World Elephant Day, with the primary aim of gathering crucial data on elephant movements to support the protection and restoration of natural wildlife habitats.
