Sri Lanka, Sept. 15 -- The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has issued an update regarding the commemorative Rs. 2000 banknote released on August 29 to mark its 75th anniversary.
According to the statement, licensed commercial banks are currently calibrating their cash handling machines to recognize and process the new note. Once this process is completed, the Rs. 2000 note will be gradually introduced into circulation through all licensed commercial banks.
The Central Bank expressed appreciation for the public's patience during this transition period and encouraged anyone with inquiries to contact the Department of Currency, visit the official CBSL website, or check its verified social media channels for further information.
