Sri Lanka, Aug. 8 -- The Government doctors are readying for yet another strike, this time over issues related to their transfers. Assistant Secretary of the GMOA Dr. Hansamal Weerasuriya was quoted by the media as saying that the doctors' Trade Union has decided to launch an islandwide strike on August 11 based on several demands, including the implementation of doctors' transfers.
He said that adequate time has been given to the Ministry of Health to provide solutions to their issues. If for some reason, by 8 a.m. on August 11, the Ministry is not ready to make a constructive intervention regarding this matter, "the GMOA has decided to proceed with an islandwide strike".
