Sri Lanka, Dec. 17 -- Health Deputy Minister Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni said that an investigation is underway into the anaesthetic drug Ondansetron, following the deaths of two patients and complications in several others who received it.

Ondansetron is administered to prevent side effects during the anaesthesia process. Dr. Wijemuni stated that millions of doses of the drug have been imported and given to patients since last April, with no adverse effects reported until November.
