Private bus operators to reduce running by 50%
Sri Lanka, June 8 -- Lanka Private Bus Owners' Association (LPBOA) President, Gemunu Wijeratne said their association has taken a decision to limit bus operations, and accordingly, it will be reduced to 50 percent starting from today (8).
He further stated that around 25 percent of buses have already voluntarily withdrawn from operations.
Wijeratne noted that this decision was taken because they did not receive a favourable response to the requested bus fare revision following the hike in fuel prices. He made these remarks while addressing a press conference held in Colombo yesterday (7).
