Printing of vehicle number plates resumes after a year's suspension
Sri Lanka, June 9 -- The printing of vehicle number plates officially resumed yesterday, at the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT) in Werahera, following a suspension of more than a year.
The year-long delay was caused by procurement challenges after the previous supplier's contract expired. The printing was officially resumed at the DMT Vehicle Inspection and Training Centre in Werahera under the patronage of Transport and Highways Deputy Minister Dr. Prasanna Gunasena.
After a significant suspension that caused a massive backlog, the Transport, Highways, and Urban Development Ministry officially partnered with South Asian Technologies (Pvt) Ltd under a five-year contract to resume operations.
