Sri Lanka, Feb. 6 -- Construction of the long-stalled Getambe Flyover in Kandy officially resumed this afternoon (06) under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, marking a significant step in the government's commitment to revitalizing critical infrastructure.
Originally launched in 2021 with Hungarian government assistance, the project, valued at Rs. 14.37 billion, was suspended following the suspension of foreign loan facilities during the recent economic crisis.
The government has now moved to complete the project using Rs. 12.27 billion in local funds, with a target completion date within the next 22 months.
