Sri Lanka, July 13 -- With the objective of facilitating the educational needs and research activities of school and university students, the construction of a specialised museum dedicated to fossil studies and research commenced in the Aruwakkalu area of Puttalam on Saturday (11). The ceremony was held with the participation of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government Minister Prof. Chandana Abayaratne.

The Aruwakkalu area in Puttalam is a unique zone where valuable plant and animal fossils belonging to the Miocene Era, dating back millions of years, are abundantly found.
