Sri Lanka, April 1 -- The Postal Department has warned the public to be cautious about a current phishing scam taking place that targets consumers by misusing the official website and name of the Postal Department through a fake website resembling the official website.

Through this phishing scam, consumers are informed via mobile phone SMS that they must pay a fee to receive a parcel, and then ask them to pay the fee using a debit or credit bank card through the online payment system. Under this fraudulent process, money in customers' bank accounts is fraudulently seized when they enter their card details through a payment gateway.
