Sri Lanka, Oct. 8 -- The Government will introduce a formal policy to provide solutions to the problem of tame elephants.
Environment Minister Dr. Dhammika Patabendi said a committee has been appointed to work on this matter and is seeking ideas and proposals from parties involved with domestic elephants.
Speaking to the media after attending the inaugural ceremony of the International Snake Conference at the Grand Kandyan Hotel in Kandy, Patabendi said 'since a case is pending in the Supreme Court regarding tame elephants, we have had a difficult time taking action regarding issues related to it in the past. That case has not yet been concluded.
