Sri Lanka, June 9 -- Police have issued a message of warning to the public about a fake and fraudulent message circulating on mobile phones and social media that the Police have issued recipients an overdue traffic fine notice and reminder.
Police Media stated yesterday (08) that the fraudulent messages claim to be from the Sri Lanka Police informing recipients that they have been tracked in committing a traffic violation by a smart tracking device and urges them to make an online payment of the fine via an unverified website or to file an appeal before a deadline that has been given.
