Sri Lanka, Sept. 21 -- Police Media Spokesperson, Assistant Superintendent of Police Udaya Kumara Wootler, stated that 43 children under the age of 18 were victims of cybersexual abuse between 2024 and 2025, marking a 50% increase compared to the previous year.

According to police records, 15 children were abused online in 2024, while 28 children were abused in 2025. Wootler also noted that 282 children were arrested for drug offences in 2024, with 206 such arrests recorded in 2025.
