Sri Lanka, Oct. 20 -- The Sri Lanka Police today (20) officially inaugurated the Proceeds of Crime Investigation Division (PCID), a new unit established under the Proceeds of Crime Act No. 05 of 2025 to strengthen the country's efforts against illicit financial activities.

The division, located in the old Police Headquarters building, was opened under the patronage of Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala. The PCID has been formed to investigate the unlawful acquisition of money, property, and other assets, and will also have the authority to initiate civil proceedings in cases involving non-criminal asset acquisitions.
