SriLanka, Sept. 25 -- The Government is focusing on revising the Value Added Tax (VAT) imposed on books through the upcoming Budget, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya announced today (25).

Addressing the inauguration of the 27th Colombo International Book Fair at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo, the Prime Minister noted that President Anura Kumara Dissanayake had specifically instructed her to convey that a significant change to the VAT on books could be introduced through this year's Budget.

The Prime Minister stressed that the Government recognises the value of books and understands the importance of such a change to the public.
