Sri Lanka, April 2 -- Former Eastern Province Governor Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, commonly known as Pillayan, has been remanded by the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court pending further directions from the Attorney General.
The remand follows ongoing investigations into the disappearance of a former Vice Chancellor in the Eastern Province in 2006. Police and the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have been conducting inquiries as part of the alleged abduction case.
The court ordered Pillayan to remain in custody while the Attorney General's Department reviews the evidence and makes recommendations on possible charges.
