Sri Lanka, Aug. 13 -- The Court of Appeal has ordered the Peradeniya University to appoint a Senior Lecturer Grade II from the Pali and Buddhist Studies Department as a Senior Lecturer Grade I, after finding that the selection process was tainted by illegality, procedural unfairness, favouritism and mala fides.
Accordingly, the Court ordered the University to appoint Dr.Ariyaratne as Senior Lecturer Grade I with effect from September 22, 2022, quashed the appointment of the 33rd respondent, and allowed the Grade II appointment of the 32nd respondent to remain intact and be backdated to the same date.
