Passengers hospitalised after Wanawasala accident to receive compensation
Sri Lanka, May 18 -- Railways Superintendent Asanka Samarasinghe stated that a compensation mechanism is in place for passengers in the event of injuries caused by a train accident, and steps will be taken to pay compensation to those hospitalised due to the Wanawasala accident by reviewing their medical diagnosis cards once they return home.
He made these remarks during a press conference held at the Transport Ministry yesterday (17).
"The Railway Department has a mechanism to compensate passengers during such incidents. We have a compensation scheme approved by the Cabinet.
