Party Leaders' Meeting in first week of June or May end - Speaker
India, May 23 -- The Opposition's request to hold a party leaders' meeting yesterday (22) to discuss the current economic crisis and decide what Parliament could do about it was turned down by the ruling party citing that there is no such necessity.
Chief Opposition Whip Gayantha Karunatillaka called on Speaker Dr.Jagath Wickramaratne to hold a party leaders' meeting yesterday citing that there has been no such meeting held during this week so far to discuss parliamentary business for the next Parliamentary sitting week. He said that the joint opposition has requested on Thursday from the Speaker to hold the party leaders' meeting before end of the week to discuss grave concerns over the current economic crisis faced by the country.
