Sri Lanka, Aug. 22 -- The Government has planned to extend the Central Expressway up to Rambukkana and open it to the public by the end of 2026, Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Ratnayake said in Parliament yesterday.
The Minister was responding to a question raised by MP Sujeewa Dissanayake. He said that the Government has also planned to construct two new flyovers in Kurunegala, with one in Getambe. Construction of the Kohuwala flyover will be completed in 2026.
The Government has also planned to make the Polgahawela-Kurunegala railway line into a double-line in 2026.
