Sri Lanka, July 8 -- The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) yesterday reported 2,604 new dengue cases during the 24-hour period beginning at midnight on July 4, with the Western Province reporting the largest number of dengue positive cases.
According to the NDCU, the total number of confirmed dengue cases reported this year has exceeded 61,000, while 39 dengue-related deaths have been reported.
The Western Province has reported 32,054 cases, representing more than 52.5 percent of the total dengue positive cases. The Southern Province has recorded 9,674 cases, followed by the Sabaragamuwa Province with 5,237.
