Sri Lanka, June 18 -- SJB MP Ajith Perera said that the Opposition will bring a No-Confidence Motion against the Government if the prolonged delays in filling the eight vacancies in Sri Lanka's Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal are not immediately addressed.
A total of eight senior-level vacancies have remained unfilled for over six months. The delays have forced several career judges to retire without being considered for promotion, further exacerbating case backlogs and burdening the existing judicial workforce.
I raised these concerns in Parliament claiming the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has failed to fulfil his constitutional duties to nominate judges.
