Sri Lanka, April 23 -- Opposition MPs requested the summoning of four individuals, including President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, to testify before a Parliamentary Committee appointed to investigate and submit recommendations regarding the release of 323 containers from the Colombo Port without a mandatory physical inspection.
The MPs demanded that Bimal Rathnayake and Janitha Ruwan Kodituwakku, who served as the Ports Minister and Deputy Minister respectively, when the incident occurred, be brought before the committee. They also requested the presence of the then Finance, Planning and Economic Development Ministry Secretary.
