Sri Lanka, April 17 -- The Sri Lanka Police have announced that vehicles fitted with non-standard number plates will be taken into custody and produced before court.South Asians & Diaspora
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic Control and Road Safety), W. P. J. Senadheera, stated that offenders using number plates that do not comply with legal requirements will face fines ranging from Rs.15,000 to Rs. 25,000.
DIG Senadheera said that although there has been a delay in issuing number plates for newly registered vehicles, steps are being taken to distribute them within the next few weeks.
