Sri Lanka, Oct. 27 -- A fatal accident on the Central Expressway claimed one life and left two others injured early this morning (27).

Police reports indicate that a car entering the expressway from the Kurunegala Interchange collided with the rear of an oncoming lorry at around 4:30 a.m. The crash is believed to have been caused by the driver falling asleep at the wheel.

The passenger seated in the back of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two other occupants sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Kurunegala General Hospital.

Authorities are investigating the incident.
