Sri Lanka, Oct. 28 -- Mahanayake Theras have not yet made any request to the Government for the release of Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera, Health and Mass Media Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa said yesterday.
He reiterated that the Government operates strictly within the framework of existing laws and does not act in a manner that surpasses the law or the decisions delivered by the judiciary.
Speaking at the press briefing held yesterday (27) to announce Cabinet decisions, he said the standing orders of the prison system are being amended following a request by the Chief Prelates of Sri Lanka's main Buddhist Chapters allowing convicted monks to wear robes when taking them out of prisons.Sri Lanka Travel
