Sri Lanka, May 21 -- Minister of Ports, Civil Aviation and Energy Anura Karunatilake says the government will not seek an electricity tariff increase from the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka until September.

Speaking in Parliament today (21) in response to a question raised by MP Ravi Karunanayake, the Minister said the latest electricity tariff revision mainly affects consumers using more than 180 units.

He further stated that the government has provided a Rs. 15 billion subsidy to the National System Operator (NSO) to ease the burden on other consumers.
