Sri Lanka, July 9 -- Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Minister Bimal Ratnayake yesterday announced in Parliament that new fare policy mechanism for buses, three wheelers, school vans and office vans will be introduced soon.
The planned standardised pricing structure will expand beyond regular buses to encompass three-wheelers, school vans and office transport vans.
A dedicated national committee will be formed to oversee, calculate, and implement these changes fairly across the transport sector. The Minister stated that the country's existing Transportation Act already provides the necessary legal framework to introduce and enforce this pricing mechanism.
